Technical News Office – Every time you go to a big grocery store, what do you do? You grab a cart, quickly load it with goods, then wait in line to charge. Imagine if, after placing the goods in the cart or trolley, you didn’t have to queue to charge! At the India Mobile Congress 2024, Jio showcased a “smart shopping cart” equipped with artificial intelligence.
The company claims that it is very easy to use. The “smart cart” is directly connected to the store’s billing office. In such a situation, when a customer puts an item in the cart, the AI-enabled cameras and scanners installed on the cart will send that product to the billing office. From there, the price of the product will be added directly to the invoice.
If a product is accidentally added to the cart. Or if the customer does not wish to purchase a product, the price will be deducted from the invoice when removing it from the cart. Finally, the billing office will scan the QR code of the customer’s shopping cart and the final invoice will be prepared. Reliance Retail is currently using “Intelligent Shopping Cart” as a project. It is used in some selected stores in Hyderabad and Mumbai. Soon it may also be offered in other stores nationwide.
Preparing to connect electronic scales with AI
According to Jio, it has also prepared to connect electronic scales of small traders with artificial intelligence. For example, if moong dal is kept on an electronic scale, the scale will indicate not only its weight but also its price.
