The company raised Rs 24,000 crore
According to TelecomTalk, as part of the revival plan, Vi has raised equity funding of Rs 24,000 crore, which includes Rs 18,000 crore from the follow-on public offering. Vi had earlier said that this money would be used to improve the 4G network and start the 5G network. Vi CTO Jagbir Singh said that we are starting the 5G network a little slowly. We will launch 5G first in Delhi and Mumbai and then in all major cities across 17 states. Today, around 103 million people have a 4G network, or 77%. Vi wants to increase it to 90%. The company hopes this will happen by June next year. He also said that Britain’s Vodafone and India’s Aditya Birla Group, which jointly run the company, will further improve 4G and 5G networks in 17 states. This will also include people who continue to move from one place to another.
new towers are under construction
Vi has installed many new towers in the 900 MHz band. Previously they had 55,000 towers and today they have over 100,000. They will install 50,000 more towers over the next 9 months. The 900 MHz band is great because it offers a good network even in cities. Vi said there was no problem installing the tower and all tower companies would complete Vi’s work by March.
