Media reports revealed that the iPhone 17 series will have a new type of screen. With this series, the company will move to the ProMotion screen. Let us tell you that previously this screen was only available on iPhone Pro models. The standard iPhone 17 model and 17 Slim/Plus in this series will include an LTPO panel. This means that adaptive refresh rate support is available on the display. Samsung and LG will work as OLED panel suppliers for Apple. What is LTPO technology?
This is called low temperature polycrystalline oxide or LTPO technology. This panel is commonly used in mid-range and flagship Android smartphones. The first Apple handsets to use this technology in 2021 included the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, the base model still used a 60Hz low-density polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) display. LTPO displays are often more power efficient than their LTPS counterparts. The iPhone 13 Pro can have a refresh rate as low as 10Hz, although most Android LTPO displays offer refresh rates between 1Hz and 120Hz. With the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has started to take supporting refresh rates as low as 1Hz.
