BSNL launches cheapest plan yet, Jio, Airtel and Vi also in tension, check details

Technical News Office,Recently, Indian government telecom company “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited” (BSNL) launched a new logo. In addition to the release of a new slogan, seven new services were announced. BSNL is growing rapidly with advanced technology. This is also necessary to overcome the challenge of private players. BSNL is also testing a new service, which can let you make phone calls and SMS without a SIM.

“Direct to device” service
In this connectivity service called ‘Direct to Device’, BSNL claims that it “brings together satellite and terrestrial mobile networks to provide seamless and reliable connectivity”. This service is developed in collaboration with Viasat. The company recently demonstrated its two-way satellite messaging service to attendees of the Indian Mobile Congress.

Communication will be via satellite
The company used a commercial Android smartphone in the trial. In this context, thanks to the connectivity of the non-terrestrial network (NTN), a message was sent to a Viasat satellite located approximately 36,000 km away. Like satellite messaging on iPhone and flagship Android phones, D2D can be used in emergencies or natural disasters because it works on land, in the air and at sea.

These people will benefit
D2D works by taking existing cellular networks and interacting with them with new constellations of satellites, which act like giant cell towers in the sky. This could benefit people living in areas with poor connectivity and could close the coverage gap in rural areas. Private telecom operators like Airtel, Jio and Vodafone-Idea would also offer satellite connectivity services. BSNL’s entry into this segment may also increase the challenge for these companies.
