Now that Jio Cinema and Hotstar will be shut down, Mukesh Ambani’s new live OTT platform will launch under this name

Technical News Office – Reliance Jio’s Viacom18 merger with Star India Pvt Ltd is expected to reach final stages this week. Before the merger was finalized, a new website emerged that could serve as a platform for the new OTT service along the lines of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, two popular streaming services in India. However, this website went live on a different domain. Let us know…

Jio Star OTT Platform
The new OTT platform is called “Jio Star” and its domain is jiostar.com. It is believed to make streaming services available to users from November 14, the day after the merger was announced. The website is already live, but it simply says “Jio Star Coming Soon”. Once the website goes live, content from both OTT platforms will likely be available on this single platform. However, all live sporting events like the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be available only on Disney’s Hotstar app. According to previous reports, JioCinema is likely to merge with Disney+ Hotstar.

The Delhi developer had purchased the domain
Previously, the possible domain for the new OTT platform was JioHotstar. Due to the possibility of a merger, a Delhi-based app developer bought this domain and asked companies to give him money for his study if they wanted to acquire it. After that, a debate broke out on social media and this domain was later purchased by two kids from Dubai. Recently, the current owners announced that they will give this domain to Reliance Jio for free.

So now, long live the end of cinema?
Now the question also arises whether Jio Cinema will end after the arrival of Jio Star? So let us tell you that quoting sources, ET had said in a report that after the Mukesh Ambani merger, the company can maintain only one platform instead of running two separate OTT platforms.
