Technical News Office – Prasar Bharati will launch its OTT service at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) today. Like other platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Hotstar, Indian public service broadcaster Prasar Bharati will now also have its own online content streaming platform. Content from Doordarshan and All India Radio can be streamed on this platform. Users will also have the option to watch live TV as well as archive content on Prasar Bharati.
Preparations for the launch of Prasar Bharati’s OTT platform had been going on for around a year. Finally, its OTT will now be launched. According to the HT report, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will launch the OTT platform. Since due to the growing trend of internet, users now prefer to watch most of the content on OTT, so with the arrival of Prasar Bharati’s OTT, its reach will increase to reach more number of users.
Prasar Bharati has also partnered with producers like Eros Now and Lionsgate to provide fresh and engaging content to users. However, the company has not yet revealed what the name of its OTT platform will be and what its logo will be. According to media reports, Prasar Bharati had acquired 5-6 domains for its OTT name. Now it remains to be seen which name appears here. Prasar Bharati will also release audio identification with the logo.
Prasar Bharati OTT app will be available on Google Play Store for Android. Along with this, it will also be available for iOS and can be downloaded from the App Store. Apart from this, it can also be downloaded from the Prasar Bharati website. It was prepared by PSU Railtel. It will be possible to watch content on the platform in standard definition, high definition and up to 4K. Initially, the company will provide a free service in which advertisements will also be shown. Premium subscription plans will be launched in the coming days.
