Technical News Office – Are you also a Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL user and troubled by fake messages? So don’t worry now. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI is going to implement a new rule soon. In fact, TRAI had recently announced the introduction of the ‘Message Traceability’ rule, which will now be implemented from December 11, 2024. Earlier, it was announced that this rule would come into force from December 1, but before this, TRAI had issued a press release and extended its deadline. This rule has been specially designed to prevent fake and unauthorized messages. Let us know in detail…
First understand what this new rule is?
TRAI has made it clear that from December 11, 2024, no such messages will be accepted in which the number series prescribed by the telemarketers is not used. This change will improve message traceability and make it easier to track and block fake links and fraudulent messages.
Why was the deadline postponed?
However, this rule was previously scheduled to come into force from December 1, 2024, but due to lack of preparations, it was postponed until December 11. TRAI has asked telemarketers and entities to update their number series as soon as possible.
How will the new rule work?
After implementing the new rule, messages without a valid series will be automatically rejected. Fake messages sent pretending to be banks, businesses or other telemarketers will no longer be successful. Additionally, it will help reduce fraud due to spam calls and fake messages. Cyber thugs often target innocent people through fake links and messages. They attempt to steal personal information by posing as bank agents or telemarketers. In such a situation, this TRAI rule will help to curb such fraudsters. Also, with the introduction of this rule, you will not get any fake OTPs.
