Technical News Office – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given a few days’ respite to telecom companies to implement message traceability. This rule, which came into force on December 1, will now come into force from December 10. To provide relief to telecom companies, TRAI said that from December 11, unwanted calls and messages will have to be blocked at all costs. TRAI has now given businesses a deadline till December 10 for OTP-based SMS verification.
Communication companies will have to register
TRAI plans to implement message traceability so that telecom platforms are not used for activities such as fraud and cybercrime. Previously, it was to be implemented from December 1. The company gave a deadline of 10 days and asked companies to implement message traceability from December 10. TRAI said that more than 27,000 companies have been registered in the communication chain. This process is moving quickly. Telecommunications companies alert telemarketers who are not yet registered.

Due to lack of preparedness by telecom companies, TRAI granted a ten-day deadline. Previously, the message traceability rule was to be implemented from December 1. TRAI says such telemarketers or those who send commercial messages and calls will have to register. Without registration, they will not be able to send messages or make calls. Around 1.7 billion commercial messages are sent every day in India.
What is message traceability??
TRAI wants to fight fraud on telecommunications platforms through message traceability. Under this, he asked telecommunications companies to block all such messages from banks, e-commerce and other institutions, which contain telemarketing or promotional content. Furthermore, he asked companies to prepare such a system so that messages received by customers can be easily traced. Along with this, TRAI says that a format of telemarketing and promotional messages has also been decided, so that users can easily experience it by watching it. Once this happens, customers will easily know where they are getting the message from. This can help reduce fraud caused by telecommunications platforms.
