Technical News Office – The government Department of Telecommunications has taken strict measures to stop fake calls. Recently, the department blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers. These were used to make fake calls. The Department of Telecommunications has taken this step in collaboration with TRAI for the security of over 122 million telecom users of the country. Together, they stepped up their action against fake calls.
TRAI came up with a new policy last month, through which operators can now stop marketing and fake calls themselves. It will no longer be necessary to create a whitelist for this. According to the Ministry of Telecommunications, around 1.35 crore fake calls are stopped every day. Apart from this, the department has blocked 1.77 crore mobile numbers making fake calls. Acting on people’s complaints, the department stopped about 7 million calls in five days. The ministry said this was the start of its campaign.
Fake calls will be checked
This is not the first time that the Ministry of Telecommunications has arrested fake callers, even before this they had blocked thousands of SIM cards. The ministry is taking strict measures to stop fake calls. From now on, callers will only receive whitelisted telemarketing calls.
Freeze 11 lakh accounts
Recently, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement that banks and payment wallets have frozen around 11 lakh accounts. The government says more SIM cards will be blocked in the coming days. Four Telecom Service Operators (TSPs) working with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had stopped 45 lakh fake international calls from reaching the telecom network.
