Technical News Office – If you are also using BSNL SIM card and waiting for 4G and 5G services to launch, then there is good news for you. The government has announced the launch date of BSNL 4G and 5G. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said government telecom firm BSNL would fully implement 4G technology in the country through one lakh base stations by May next year. After that, the company aims to launch on the 5G network by June 2025.
India is the sixth country in the world to do this
Scindia said at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum that India is following the world on 4G, but it is keeping pace with 5G. Furthermore, India is also gearing up to play a leading role in 6G globally. He said government-owned BSNL would not use anyone else’s equipment. 38,300 sites have been launched so far and the company will upgrade to 5G by June 2025 via its own 4G network. India will thus become the sixth country in the world to do so.
Transition from 4G technology to 5G
BSNL is using technology developed by a joint venture between government C-DOT and national IT firm TCS for 4G technology. Scindia said India achieved the world’s fastest transition from 4G to 5G technology by installing 4.5 lakh towers in 22 months. BSNL will launch the 5G service by making minor changes and software upgrades at existing sites.
BSNL has set the target
BSNL aims to increase its customer base by 25 percent by 2025. BSNL had announced on August 6 that it would introduce over-the-air (OTA) and universal SIM (USIM) platforms, enabling allows its customers to choose a mobile number as well as change their SIM card.
