For many of these facilities, the existing IRCTC app is not sufficient for users and requires major changes. Understanding this, an all-in-one application is launched by the railways. Economic Times reported in its report that this application could be launched in December.
India’s fourth largest railway network sees millions of people traveling every day and managing ticket booking for travel is quite complex and many different apps and websites have been created for this purpose. Users also perform tasks like booking tickets, checking PNR status or tracking live train location using many third-party apps. Now railways is going to provide all the facilities together in the official app.
The new app will be linked to IRCTC
The new application is expected to be very useful for rail passengers and has been designed by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). This app will be linked to IRCTC ticket booking website. In this, passengers will benefit from options related to ticket booking and numerous facilities during and after the journey. With this new app, Indian Railways will try to simplify all options and increase its revenue. The new report states that the new application can be launched for all passengers by the end of December next month. This application will serve as an interface between IRCTC and passengers. It has emerged that as part of long-term planning, integration work is underway between the new all-in-one application and IRCTC.
Currently, users have to resort to numerous applications for different railway-related services and facilities. For example, the IRCTC Rail Connect app is used to book, change or cancel train tickets. Similarly, IRCTC e-Catering is used for ordering food in train and Rail Madad app is used for complaints or suggestions. Apart from this, people also use the UTS and the National Train Inquiry System.
