Meanwhile, Meta announced in a blog post that it is working on a new AI-based tool. This tool can help detect if a child is lying about their age. The name of this tool is Adult Classifier. It often happens that users who register on Instagram lie about their age. But from now on, they will be prevented from doing so.
Know how this feature will work
In fact, Meta claims that the Adult classifier can help determine whether a person is an adult (18 years or older) or a teen (13 to 17 years old) and will automatically apply the appropriate privacy settings. This AI model analyzes profile information such as account creation date, content, and interactions with others. If AI finds that the user’s account is under 18, it will flag the user’s account and make it a teen account. If the adult classifier detects that a teenager is using this account, it will make this account private and prevent you from sending messages to strangers. However, Meta has already changed some rules so that children cannot change these settings without their parents’ permission.
What to do if a bad account is banned?
If the adult classifier misidentifies an account, you can use Meta to remove it. For this, you will need to upload your government ID or selfie.
