However, if your device can’t run iOS 9, you still have options. You can manually back up your data to a computer using a USB cable and Finder using iTunes or macOS Catalina or later software on Windows or older Macs. These manual backups will protect your data even without iCloud. Apple also lets you encrypt these backups with a password for added security. For some users, this change may seem inconvenient, but somewhere the company is preparing to bring users to the new software.
