Big drop in SeptemberT
According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI, private telecom companies lost a total of 10 million or 1 crore customers in September 2024. Of these, the most Big loss was suffered by Reliance Jio, which lost 7.9 million customers. Not only this, Bharti Airtel also lost 1.4 million customers and Vodafone-Idea (VI) lost 1.5 million customers, but on the other hand, BSNL benefited a lot.

55 lakh new users joined BSNL
On the other hand, BSNL took advantage and added 5.5 million or 55 lakh new users between July and October 2024. According to Department of Telecommunications (DoT) data, 1.5 million new customers joined BSNL in July 2024. While in August 2024, this number increased to 2.1 million. Meanwhile, 1.1 million customers joined BSNL in September 2024. 0.7 million customers switched to BSNL in October 2024. These figures from BSNL show that customers are now increasingly shifting towards the government company.

Growing pressure on private companies
Before the tariff increase in June 2024, users turned to private telecom companies, but after recharge plans became expensive, BSNL changed the game. BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Robert Ravi recently said that the company would not make its projects expensive at the moment. Moreover, recently, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also expressed happiness over the success of BSNL and said, “I see a big opportunity in BSNL.”
