So it is very important to have a PAN card. Many people think that PAN card is only issued to people above 18 years of age, but you are wrong. There is no rule regarding PAN card. As per section 160 of the Income Tax Act, you can also create a PAN card for your child. The PAN card produced for a child is called “Minor PAN Card”. Only parents are allowed to use this PAN card. If you want to create a PAN card for your child, the online process is very simple.
Why is PAN card important for a child?
Having a PAN card for a child has many advantages. According to the Income Tax Department, any minor can make a PAN card. There is no rule for this. However, when the child reaches the age of 18, it is necessary to have it updated. Minor PAN card does not have signature or photo. Which will need to be updated later.
Benefits of Minor PAN Card
Investment: If you want your child to invest, then the PAN card will be required. If you want to make your child a nominee in your investment, its importance also increases.
Bank Account: PAN card is required to open a bank account.
Income: If the child has a source of income, the PAN card will also be required.
Process for applying online
First of all, search for NSDL on Google and first tap on the “PAN Application Online” link.
Once the PAN application opens, select the type “New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)” and then select “Individual” from the category.
Fill in the candidate details below like full name, date of birth, mobile number and email id. Now fill the captcha and submit.
A token number will appear in front of you. Write it down and click on “Continue with PAN Application Form”.
Now select “Physically transmit application documents” at number 3.
Enter the Aadhar card and last 4 digits of the name and verify the previously filled details. A lot of new information will also need to be provided here.
After that, click Next. Here it will be the turn to submit information about parents, income and documents.
After completing all these steps, the submit option will finally appear. A fee of Rs 107 is charged for this.
