Technical News Office – Meta announced a new feature for direct messages (DM) on Instagram. The feature aims to improve the way users connect with their friends and express themselves. These updates are part of what the company calls “more ways to express yourself and deepen friendships in DMs.” Here we tell you in detail about these new Instagram features.
New sticker pack for DM:
To improve conversations, Meta has introduced 17 new sticker packs containing over 300 stickers. These stickers allow users to respond to messages or express emotions when they have no words. Users can also add stickers to favorites, making it easy to reuse stickers shared by friends or created using Cutouts.
Customizing nicknames in DM:
Meta now allows users to add nicknames for themselves or their friends in DMs, simplifying usernames or personalizing them with inside jokes. Nicknames are only visible in private chats and do not affect public Instagram profiles. Users have full control over who can update nicknames in chat. By default, only people you follow can make edits, but this setting can be adjusted.
Users can define aliases like this:
First, you need to tap on the chat name at the top of the conversation.
Then choose a nickname.
Select the person you want to nickname.
Location sharing in DM:
Live location sharing has been introduced to make dating easier. Users can share their location live for up to an hour, making it easier to coordinate when planning or attending a crowded event.
Location sharing is private and limited to one-on-one or group chats.
Live location sharing expires after one hour.
Users can stop sharing their location at any time.
This feature is disabled by default and is only visible to people in specific chats. Meta advises users to prioritize privacy and only share their location with people they trust.
These features are rolling out this week, although location sharing is currently limited to certain countries.
