Prasar Bharati has launched its new over-the-top (OTT) platform and it is called Waves. Through the new Waves OTT platform, users will have the opportunity to watch content in local languages. It is claimed to have been designed with Indian users in mind. The Waves OTT service was introduced with the tagline “New Wave of Family Entertainment” and will have the ability to stream content in over 12 different languages. Currently, the content can be downloaded and streamed for free and, except for some premieres, there is an option to watch the rest of the content without any payment.

In the new OTT service, users have the option to watch content in more than 12 languages. The list of these languages ​​includes Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi and Assamese. More than 10 different categories of content can be broadcast there. In addition, options such as video on demand, free games, radio streaming and live TV streaming are also offered there.

“There is a need for a public broadcaster across all platforms as we want to bring diverse content and information to our audiences across the country,” said Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, Prasar Bharati. Many classic shows will also be visible on the new platform. For example, ‘Fauji 2.0’, the modern adaptation of Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Fauji’ series, can also be streamed there.

If you need access to Wave, it can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Talking about plans, the cheapest Gold plan is priced at Rs 30 per month. Apart from this, the Diamond annual plan is priced at Rs 350 and the Platinum annual plan is priced at Rs 999. All of them offer streaming options in SD, HD and Ultra HD quality respectively.
