Mobile press office – Recently, Google launched new Pixel 9 series smartphones. It looks like Google is now preparing to launch the most affordable model of this series. A new report suggests that the budget-friendly Google Pixel 9a will launch soon. Citing sources, Android Headlines reported in its report that the Pixel 9a will be available for pre-order by mid-March 2025. This means it will launch two months earlier than its usual May launch window, which coincides often with Google’s I/O developer event. The report further claims that the Pixel 9a will be available for purchase in stores by the end of March. And this phone will be available in four color options including Porcelain, Obsidian, Peony and Iris.
It’s not just the Pixel 9a. The upcoming Pixel-A series phones could also adopt this strategy. The report suggests that Google could also permanently adopt this March schedule for the launch of future A-series phones. This could mean that the Pixel 10a will arrive in March 2026 and its successor will arrive next March.
Android 16 could arrive four months earlier
Reportedly, the company is also speeding up the launch of Android 16. The next version of its mobile operating system could arrive before the end of June. If this is true, then it will be released around four months earlier than Google’s adopted schedule for Android 14. As of now, there is no concrete information on why Google is launching things so quickly. However, in the case of Pixel phones, this could be a strategy to adopt before the iPhone launch. Google launched the Pixel 9 series phones before the iPhone 16 and if the revealed launch timeline is correct, the Pixel 9a will also launch before the iPhone SE 4.
Google Pixel 9a will be available in four colors
According to a report by Android Headlines, Google Pixel 9a will be available in four color options. These four color options include porcelain, obsidian, peony, and iris. The Peony color would be the same as the base Pixel 9, which also comes in Peony, while the Iris color will be a blue-purple option.
Renders have revealed that the Google Pixel 9a will be slightly larger and thinner than its previous version. Compared to the Pixel 8a, the new version would be slightly taller and wider. The dimensions of the upcoming phone are 154x73x8.8mm, while the thickness of the Pixel 8a is 8.9mm. Interestingly, the Pixel 9a’s camera module is recessed into the rear panel of the Pixel 9a, while the Pixel 8a or Pixel 9 series have a protruding layout. The Google Pixel 9a has a square chassis with rounded edges. As with the regular series, the company can continue to provide OS upgrades on this phone for 7 years. Google Pixel 9a may have a Tensor G4 chipset, made by Samsung. The dimensions suggest that the phone could have a slightly larger screen.
