Mobile press office – Apple plans to launch its thinnest iPhone model next year, which could be called iPhone 17 Slim or Air. According to published reports on the matter, this model can be up to 5mm thick, making it really thin and light. But due to the sleek design, some changes can be seen in this model.
Changes visible in the iPhone 17 Air
A new update suggests that the iPhone 17 Air’s SIM slot may be removed, meaning you’ll need an eSIM to use this device. The report states that engineers face many difficulties in installing physical locations in the thin frame. Apple has already launched eSIM variants for some of its iPhones, limited to the US market. But launching a completely new model with only eSIM may pose problems in countries like India and China. Because giving a SIM slot here is part of the rules.
SIM slot can be removed
Reportedly, to make the phone thinner, the SIM slot may be removed and the number of camera lenses on the back should also be reduced. China is one of the largest markets for Apple and most of its products are focused on this region. In such a situation, bringing the iPhone 17 Air only with eSIM would be against the company’s product strategy. Looking at all of this, it seems that Apple may have to rework its launch plan for the iPhone 17 Air, as it may take longer to find a way to create a slim iPhone with basic features.
