Technical News Office – Instagram is working on a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature that will allow users to create profile photos. A new leak claims that the Meta-owned social media platform is testing a feature that will allow users to create new profile photos using AI using AI models. Although not much is known about this feature yet, similar features are reportedly in development for Facebook and WhatsApp.
Developer Alessandro Paluzzi found evidence of this feature on the Instagram app and shared information about it in a post on Threads. While updating his profile picture on Instagram, he noticed a new menu option offering the option to create an AI profile picture. A screenshot of the menu was also shared by the developer.
However, it is difficult to say how this feature will actually work as it is still in the development stage. It is believed to be based on one of Meta’s Llama Large Language Models (LLM). This feature can work in two ways: it can provide users with an AI-generated image from scratch using text prompts or it can use AI to edit an existing profile picture with different styles.
This won’t be the first AI feature to come to Instagram. The Meta-owned platform already offers access to its Meta AI chatbot in the form of standalone chats as well as group chats. The company also introduced an AI rewrite feature for DM messages, which allows users to rewrite and change the tone of the message sent to other users.
