With this assistant, the company has replaced Google Assistant and Android users are enjoying its benefits. It has now emerged that thanks to the update received by this application, users will be able to make calls or send SMS without unlocking the phone.
Android Authority’s recent Google app beta APK teardown revealed that many new features will be coming to Gemini AI Assistant. The post hinted that with the new feature, calls can be made or messages sent through Gemini even when the phone is locked. The company has already included many Google Assistant features in Gemini.
New option visible in settings
Like Google Assistant, users will benefit from new Gemini-related settings, where they can decide whether this AI tool can be used when the device is locked or not. Apart from this, the toggle to make calls or send messages from the lock screen can also be enabled. This feature is very useful because some functions are not available in Gemini, it has to fall back to Google Assistant. Now many things can be done without unlocking the phone.
The new feature appears after navigating to the “Gemini on lock screen” setting in the Google app. It is listed with the “Call and message without unlocking” toggle and can be easily enabled. Google clarified that before receiving any type of personal content or displaying app notifications, Gemini Assistant will ask to unlock the device, so that personal notifications are not disclosed and privacy is maintained.
