Technical News Office –Guidelines on message tracing will be implemented by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) from next month, in a bid to prevent spam messages. In such a situation, many reports are coming out, in which it is claimed that due to this message tracing process, one-time password (OTP) messages will now be delivered with some delay. Many users are concerned about this and TRAI itself has now responded to this issue.
Many reports claim that the flow of OTP messages may be affected from December 1. Indeed, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will implement guidelines on message traceability, which will come into force next month. However, the regulator completely denied these reports and said that the new traceability would have no impact on OTP messages and users need not worry.
What are TRAI’s rules related to message traceability?
In August, TRAI had directed telecom operators to stop misuse of messaging services and protect their consumers from scams and phishing. For this, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL have all been asked to trace messages sent to users, so that they can stop spam and phishing attacks. Initially the deadline was set for October 31, but instructions have now been given to implement the new guidelines from December 1.
Will users’ email experience be affected?
Some people have linked the new message tracing rule to the OTP delivery system. However, the two are different things. TRAI has made it clear that there will be no delay in the delivery of important messages such as Net Banking and Aadhaar OTP. TRAI assured that the aim of the new rules is only to stop spam messages and scams and will not cause any inconvenience or problem to common users. Overall, you have nothing to worry about and your email experience will not be affected in any way. Necessary changes to the new guidelines will have to be made by telecom companies and courier companies and users will not need to do anything. Likewise, it will also be ensured that they do not face any problem.
