Price and availability of different models
These laptops are available for purchase only in Japan. The starting price of the VAIO SX14-R model is 259,800 yen (approximately Rs 1,42,800), while the starting price of the VAIO Pro PK-R model is 304,200 yen (approximately Rs 1,67,000) . Although the brand’s laptops are sold worldwide, it is not yet known whether or not the new laptop will be launched in other markets.

The VAIO SX14-R laptop model comes with an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H or Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 16GB to 64GB soldered LPDDR5x RAM. It has storage ranging from 256GB to 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, which users can upgrade. Display options available on the laptop include a 14-inch 1920 × 1200 pixel non-touch display or a 2560 × 1600 pixel touchscreen, both of which feature an anti-glare coating.
The VAIO Pro PK-R laptop model is specially designed for professional users. It offers a wide range of Intel Core Ultra processors, including low-power 125U, 135U and 165U models. Some configurations include touchscreens with active digitizer pens, allowing precise input for creative work. The screen is flat, but cannot fully rotate into tablet mode.
Both weigh less than a kilogram
Both models are lightweight and both weigh less than a kilogram, meaning they can be easily transported anywhere. The company claims that despite its lightweight, customers won’t have to compromise on performance. Connectivity options available on the laptop include Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and Ethernet ports, ensuring easy connectivity with various devices and networks.
Advanced microphone system in a laptop
The laptop has an advanced microphone system, designed to improve the quality of audio and video calls. The company’s chat software allows users to choose between 360-degree, 90-degree, and 40-degree microphone pickup patterns, optimizing sound capture for different settings. Additionally, Whisper Mode enhances speech at low volumes for clear communication in quiet environments.
The laptop also has front-facing stereo speakers and an optional 9.2-megapixel webcam with HDR support and Windows Hello facial recognition. VAIO’s User Sensing technology improves security, automatically locking the screen when the user walks away and alerting them of potential privacy risks. Both models support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as optional 4G LTE and GPS. The SX14-R also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
