Technical News Office – WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging platform in the world. This Meta-owned platform focuses on constantly adding new features to improve its users’ experience. WhatsApp has been testing new features in its beta version for some time now. The platform has now officially announced a new feature, after which a major problem of users will be resolved. The new feature is related to contact backup. Until now, to chat with a person on a linked device, users had to save their phone number on the primary device, but after the introduction of the new feature, the contact can be saved on any device related.
Announcing the brand new feature in its blog post, WhatsApp said that users will soon be able to add or manage contacts on WhatsApp Web and on Windows or other related devices. As we mentioned, until now users could only add contacts from their mobile devices. They had to add the phone number to the main device by typing the phone number or scanning the QR code, but this task will soon be easier.
It is also reported that the platform is also introducing a new option to save contacts only on WhatsApp. This means that to chat with a contact, users will not need to save that person’s phone number on the device, but the phone number can be saved directly to WhatsApp. The platform claims that this feature is ideal when a user shares their phone with others or wants to separate personal and work contacts while managing multiple WhatsApp accounts on their phone. WhatsApp wrote in its blog post: “If you ever lose your phone or change devices, the contacts you save on WhatsApp can be restored. »
It is further stated that after this update it will be possible to manage and save contacts on the basis of username. This ‘username’ option on WhatsApp will bring an extra layer of privacy, so users won’t need to share their phone number when messaging anyone. WhatsApp said that this is a start in this direction and until this feature is ready, the platform will share more features.
