Technical News Office –The real fruits of farmers’ hard work can be seen when their crops are ready. Whenever farmers try to increase their crop yield in hopes of getting good seeds and better soil, seed quality and lack of nutrients in the soil often spoil their hopes. Now, IIT Kanpur has developed a device that can prove to be a boon for farmers. This device gives a report on the quality of the soil and the nutrients present in it in just two minutes.
Equipment Features
Professor Jayant’s team from the department of chemical engineering at IIT Kanpur has developed a device that can analyze the quality of agricultural land in just two minutes. This device has been named ‘Bhu-Pariksha 2’, and will be available in the market by 2025. This device gives information on 12 types of nutrients, so that farmers can accurately assess the quality of soil for crops.
Earlier, IIT Kanpur had created a device named ‘Bhu-Pariksha 1’, which gave reports on 6 types of nutrients. But with the new version ‘Bhu-Pariksha 2’, farmers will be able to get information on 12 types of nutrients, which can be more beneficial to them. According to Prof Jayant, farmers from different states of the country were benefiting from the ‘Bhu-Pariksha 1’, but now the demand for this improved device is also coming from foreign countries. The demand for this device is also increasing in countries like Africa, Philippines, Nepal and Afghanistan.
price and utility
The price of this device would be around Rs 2 lakh. It has been prepared by testing it on different types of soil, so that farmers can accurately assess the quality of the soil useful for their crops and make the soil fertile if necessary. Overall, this new device can prove to be an important tool for farmers, through which they can improve their agricultural production and earn more profits.
