Technical News Office – Good news for broadband customers. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched nationwide Wi-Fi roaming service for customers. Under this service, BSNL FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) connection users will be able to connect to BSNL’s pan-India network. Currently, if you are an FTTH subscriber, you can only access high-speed internet services at a certain location, i.e. where the router is installed. But with BSNL’s nationwide Wi-Fi roaming service, its FTTH customers will now be able to access high-speed internet from their broadband connection anywhere in India.
This is how the new service will work
For this, they just need to register on this BSNL website – https://portal.bsnl.in/ftth/wifiroaming. In this link, customers need to enter their FTTH connection number along with their registered mobile number and verify it. This is one of BSNL’s new services as the company seeks to rebuild its image and presence in the country. Even when a customer is in a rural area, if BSNL Wi-Fi is present there, they will be able to access high-speed internet through that connection. This allows users to get the most out of their FTTH connection. This is something that private telecom operators like Jio and Airtel would not want to do, as these telecom companies want users to use their mobile network services outside their homes.
For BSNL, this will have no impact on its mobile customers. The telecom operator is still in the process of rolling out 4G and is expected to complete the work by mid-2025. BSNL said its nationwide Wi-Fi roaming service is secure and simple. This is the first service of its kind offered by a pan-India FTTH service provider. BSNL Bharat Fiber is the third largest ISP in the country after Reliance Jio and Airtel.
